Summer is officially here. Piper Candless and I took a short break from the Palm Springs heat and enjoyed the cool refrigerated air in her posh hacienda. Now, refrigerated air is supposed to be better, more efficient technology than 'swamp' cooling. However, there is something utterly therapeutic about a swamp cooler. Most of you will probably have no idea what I am talking about unless you have spent time in a desert climate like my childhood hometown of El Paso, Texas. The smell, sound, and feeling of moistened cool air being pumped through the vents brings me an odd sense of comfort. It's also the perfect sedative for a siesta in the midst of a hot day. I checked the temperature in El Paso and it was just under 110 degrees Fahrenheit (43.3 Celsius) today. But global warming is still a myth, right?
